The human in the AI factory
Industry 4.0, the rise of IoT and AI approaches, and the modernisation of production all focus on increasing productivity, lowering waste, increasing efficiency, and a host of other improvements to the production process itself. Amid all the enthusiasm, there is a real risk of forgetting that at the heart of production is still the human, whether using the machines, diagnosing and analysing the data from smart systems, or managing the factory itself. This talk intends to bring the human back into focus, discuss the interplay between people and complex technical systems, and discuss both issues and opportunities arising from inclusion of AI and IoT in Industrial settings.
